Newsletter-Clever Crafter 6/26/08

The ideas in this week’s newsletter, recreating high fashion jewelry, are the reason many people start beading and making jewelry. Most of us at one time or another have seen a piece of jewelry we had to have. Usually that piece comes with a ridiculously high price tag. The high fashion jewelry we see showcased in our favorite fashion magazines, by designers we have all heard of, just isn’t worth the price. Most time we seem to be paying for the name! Well, I don’t know about you but I am not that much into names. I find artisan jewelry to be of higher quality and better design than designer jewelry in almost all cases. I also find the jewelry I make myself is the color and stones that I want, to go with a specific outfit and with the money you save you can afford jewelry for ever outfit. So go ahead, recreate yourself something and be proud of it. Happy design!

Newsletter-Clever Crafter 6/19/08

As the thermometer rises and the humidity soars, the idea of sitting inside and creating sounds great. Now, as much as my kids like video games, they still get excited when I break out the beads and start making something. Their favorite is making things for Grandma. She is a good sport about it though. I also get them to bead gifts for their friends when they have a birthday party to go to or need a gift for a teacher. They get a great sense of satisfaction from being able to tell everyone they made it!! We live in Tucson and have a great gem show. My daughter was thrilled when a class mate asked her teacher if the necklace that my daughter had made for her, had been purchased at the gem show. Newsletter-Clever Crafter 6/4/08

As a beader I continually want to try new things, use new stones, attempt new techniques. Sometime it takes practice to make it work, other times it just comes together. A lot of us here are crafty and just talking about things makes an idea form. I don't belong to a beading club but that would be a great avenue to inspiration as well. Or maybe a beading home party, that sounds like fun. Well, whatever your ideas for inspiration are don't hold back, anything goes! Happy Beading
